Nasal Fillers
Nasal fillers are used to lift the nose tip and create a more straight-lined nose shape for patients who do not desire an aquiline nose. In this procedure, the hollow part of the nasal root is filled to create a straight nose line. A more lifted appearance is created by filling the nose tip.
How are nasal fillers applied?
Nasal fillers can be applied either with needles or a cannula. Fine-tipped needles are used to lift and shape the nose. The cannula method is used for safety when needles pose a risk in areas like the nasal root. Generally, 1 cc filling is used in a session. This may increase if the humps are too big.
Is nasal filling a painful procedure?
Before the procedure, an anesthetic cream is applied to the area. Due to this, the patient does not feel the pain caused by the needles. In rare cases, the patient may feel a bit of tingling during the filling phase.
What should be considered after a nasal filling procedure?
There might be swelling and bruising on the nose for 2-3 days. This situation typically ends on the 5th day. To reduce the swelling and bruising, the patient can apply arnica cream and ice from time to time. It is advised to avoid contact with water for the first 4 hours, and not to put on makeup for the first 12 hours after the procedure. The patient should not massage the area unless it is advised so.
How long do nasal fillers last?
Nasal fillers last approximately 12-15 months. It depends on the patient’s age, medical history, genetic factors, and type of filling.
Are nasal fillers harmful?
Dermal fillers are composed of hyaluronic acid, which is a substance found in the skin and the filling material of the hypodermis. Since they are naturally produced in the body and are not foreign to it, they do not lead to allergic reactions. The body digests them in 12 to 15 months. Hence, they do not lead to permanent harm or change.
In which cases can nasal fillers be applied?
Patients over 18 who have a low-tipped nose, do not like their aquiline nose but also do not wish to undergo surgeries or wish to experience the change before a surgery, can make use of nasal fillers. However, if the patient has undergone a nose surgery or has severe illnesses like connective tissue diseases or immunodeficiencies, the procedure is planned according to the patient and the disease. If you have undergone a nose surgery or have a disease, please make sure to inform your doctor during the planning of the treatment.
